The sacrament of confirmation (acceptence of the Holy Ghost) was conferred upon adolescents to mark their growth in maturity in their Christian life. Confirmation was administered by an archbishop or bishop in the presence of the godparent. Personal data and the preparedness of the candidates were recorded on the confirmation papers. After the ceremony, the data were re-written into the book of confirmees along with the date & place of the event, name & surname of the confirmee, and the confirmation name. Sometimes the birth place, birth date, place of residence, name & occupation of parents and godparent, and the name of the officiating (arch)bishop is included.
